Legendary memories on the Legend

Sail Date: October 2009
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Tampa

We finally decided that we couldn't say we didn't like cruising until we tried it. We loved it! The balcony was a little more expensive but really made it work for us. We hated the thought of being on the ocean without a view, sounds, smells and freedom to see sunrises or sunsets. Watching for dolphin ( and seeing many ) added to our enjoyment of the balcony. The rest was better than most hotel rooms we've stayed in. Much more room than expected and very, very comfortable. Lots of bathroom space, plenty of storage and always as clean as we could ever want. We never heard a peep from the rooms around us. An occasional romp in the hall but never past bedtime.

Sooooo much to do but never felt pressured to participate. The best dinner arrangement for us was the dine anytime. We could eat in the dining room between 5:45 and 9:15. We went at a variety of times and rarely had to wait for a table. They do provide a buzzer if you have to wait a few minutes so you can roam around More sightseeing while waiting. We always asked to sit alone. Not that we're antisocial, we just wanted to eat alone...no problem. Great food, I mean great food! Buffet, dining room, grill, pizza etc. no problems. We did go with the tea and lemonade but that was ok too. Breakfast lunch and dinner offered milk ( chocolate milk on ice is great) coffee, hot tea. Juices at breakfast also broke up the monotony of tea and lemonade but I thought the soda pass was a bit too much.

Off season was perfect for weather and how few people were on this trip. I think it was a full ship but it felt like they were always spread out all over the ship. Only embarkation day was crowded. Legend is well kept and spotless. Crew was the BEST! Smiles all over the place. Great shows, great fun.

We did a snorkel trip in each port.Cayman, Cozumel, Belize and Roatan. Snorkel is the best at Roatan at Tabyana Beach. Snorkel off shore at reefs 5-50 feet deep. Great color, great fish, beautiful reefs. Cayman Barrier reef catamaran was great, Belize Snorkel and Beach break was wonderful. Got beach time and snorkel at the reefs. El Cid at Cozumel was great for a break. Nice little beach area, good drinks, great food but snorkeling there is really for beginners. Easy entry lots of different fish but not too much coral. Take this trip!!!!The Legend was wonderful. Less

Cabin review: Carnival Legend 6521

Great room with a balcony.Only noise was a person moving a chair on the balcony above. Quiet in the room all the time. Hall only had a little noise on the day we got back to home port. So much closet space, drawer space, under bed space for luggage, night stands with cabinets, shallow cabinets along a wall, tons of space in the bathroom for makeup, toiletries, hair stuff...very comfortable bed, air conditioning at any temperature you wanted worked great. Balcony just right for 2. Block out light drapery if you don't want to see the sunshine.

Port and Shore Excursions

Lots of shopping. Lots of bars. A lot of people offering excursions. Nice relaxed day at El Cid. This is an all inclusive day with drinks, food and snorkeling off the beach. Pool for swimming and lounge chairs were plentiful. This was a nice beach day with snorkeling more for beginners.

Lots of shopping. Lots of choices for bars and restaurants if you want to eat off the ship. Barrier reef snorkel was excellent and had a nice relaxed excursion.

(5.5)
Really enjoyed this port. Small area near the ship but packed with shops and local people selling hand made goods. Very friendly people even though it looks very poor as you travel across the mountains. Best snorkeling ever off Tabyana Beach. Relaxed atmosphere with locals selling hand made goods. Best reefs I've seen.

Coming and going from Tampa was nice. We went through port authority very quickly.
