We had booked our flight from Dallas to Seattle through the Princess office. Had to wait for the right bus to pick us up and take us to the dock. It was great not having to mess with our luggage, though.
When you consider the sheer volume of people that are embarking at the same time, I thought that it went rather well. The standing in line gets a little tiresome, but we just pretended we were waiting to get on a ride at Disney World. It took a little over an hour from the time we got off the bus until we got to our room.
The room...wow! It was extremely well appointed and we had more than enough room. The balcony was HUGE, just fantastic! We had no problem with the bed whatsoever. We thought it was comfortable. Our room Stewart, Ivonne, was beyond great. She helped us all week long and we were sorry to leave her at the end of the trip.
Yes, the showers are small...FOR YOUR SAFETY! If you're in choppy water and the ship is rolling or pitching, you do NOT want to slip in a huge shower stall. You're much more likely to get hurt if you do!
My husband and I are easy going people. And we don't like to dress up. So we had chosen the anytime option for eating. But we never did go to the dining room. We were perfectly happy with the buffet. We ate whenever we wanted to and had no problems at all. We thought the food was first rate and the service was pretty good. We had soda cards and they were WELL worth the price. We did do one evening of speciality eating at the Crown Grill. The service and the food were well worth the additional charge.
We didn't have any problems with the staff trying to sell us jewelry, drinks, or anything else. All you had to say was "no" and they would leave you alone. Nothing pushy.
We did sail the last week of the Alaska season and found a lot of good bargains. The shops get overcrowded with people, but a little patience goes a long way. Be prepared to stand in line.
We choose to use the express checkout. It does cost extra, but it's worth it. We packed our big bags on Friday night and put them in the hall for pick up. Our flight boarding passes were delivered to our room. This was the only mistake of the whole trip. My pass had all my info, but my husband's was blank. I proceeded down to the desk only to find a HUGE line (this was Friday evening). Everyone wanted to check their charges. Keep in mind that this desk is open 24/7. I simply went back to our room and enjoyed our last evening. We didn't get off in Victoria, but we watched the people who did from our balcony. Later, I did go back to the desk and they corrected my husband's boarding pass. And I also got a list of our charges. It was completely correct.
We WILL be cruising Princess again!!
