We arrived at Venice by plane via Dubai, cleared customs and got a taxi to the "Oosterdam"(cost 35 Euro), which only took about 17 minutes and left us right outside the luggage drop. We then walked about 100 metres to the "Oosterdam"check-in desk, which was fairly efficient. We then were guided to our cabin which seemed a little small, but was neat, tidy, and spotless. Our room steward introduced himself, was pleasant, well mannered and quietly spoken. Our room was serviced twice a day,an every evening a white towel was made into a different animal and placed on the bed with the next day's itinerary together with 2 chocolates. This was very warming. Our open dining option allowed us to sit and become aquainted with lots of different people all the time. The casual dining on the "Lido" deck was unbelievable. There was so much to choose from, and because our background was in hospitality, we can honestly say,the quality, service, and choice was excellent. To top all that, they had pool-side b-b-ques, afternoon teas etc. as well. The live night entertainment was very professional. We went on 6 excursions and all were very well organised. We enjoyed them all, but Santorini, and the Amalfi Coast were our favourites. This cruise was a dream for us and we can not say enough about the great time we had on the "Oosterdam". We do not know what other cruise ships are like, but the "Oosterdam" was a fabulous unforgetable experience,!!!!
