Sail Date: Oct 2009

My husband and I were on the second sailing of the Carnival Dream in the Mediterranean. We booked one of the new ocean view cabins with two bathrooms and our cabin was located on the Deck 2 (Main).

We arrived in Rome the night before the cruise and joined up with another couple for a transfer over to Civitavecchia. The transfer was great and without delay and we arrived at the new embarkation building by 10:45 AM. We were onboard around 11:15 AM as there isn't much process to embarkation at this port.

What a time we had! The itinerary was great (Italy, Spain, Croatia) and the new features onboard, while still getting the kinks ironed out, were really special.

Cabin Review

Cabin 6C

Lots of closet space (suprisingly), but the bathrooms, though two, are small. Only one toilet but there is now both a shower and tub in a room. The beds are are your usual cruise ship beds and the colours in the room are still the same Carnival standard. Flat panel televisions and on-demand account capabilities are always great features. The lights flicker for quite a while before going on - entering the bathroom requires a certain level of trust or patience!

The cabin gets very loud when docking the boat in port. To move the ship sideways, the bottom part of the boat begins vibrating and shaking noisily each time. It will wake you up each time, so forget napping while the ship is setting sail or arriving in port.
