This was our 13th cruise on Princess and our first cruise in a suite. It will certainly not be the last time we cruise in a suite. Its the only way to cruise.
The flight from Sacramento to Los Angeles on Southwest was on time and we were very promptly meet by Princess representatives in baggage claim. After retreiving our luggage we boarded the Princess transfer bus at LAX and were whisked to the Golden Princess 30 minutes away in San Pedro. Embarkation as always was very quick and efficient and we were in our cabin within 30 minutes. Our suite was on Deck 15 the Sun Deck. These penthouse suites were recently constructed during the Golden Princess refurbishment in May. Very large suite and balconey. Two 32 inch TV's and all marble bathroom including whirlpool bathtub. Our cabin steward Israel from Mexico certainly made us feel right at home and was very attentive the entire cruise.
We ate most of our meals in the dining rooms. At just about all meals we had the pleasure of meeting many very nice people many of which were from California. We also had dinner a couple nights at the Crown Grill one night for a birthday celbration. The food is excellent including the poterhouse steak and Maine lobster's. The service is also quite good. Just about all the lunches and dinners in the dining room's was of above average quality.
Many nights we found ourselves either watching a show or in the casino. There were a couple of big winners on this cruise including a $5300 winner on the penny slots. I too by the end of the cruise has receovered most of what I had earlier lost in slot play.
Besides the suite accomodations are of course all the perks that Princess includes with suite accomodations. This includes free Internet, free landry and dry cleaning, free mini-bar setup and the one that impressed us the most private breakfast dining at Sabatini's the italian restuarant. This perk alone impressed me the most. The attention and pampering by the wait staff at Sabatini's for breakfast was very appealing. A perfect way to start the day.
Weather for the 14 days was good hardly a ripple in the ocean and no rain. Since we have been to Hawaii many times we only took tours in Oahu and Hawaii. At this point I was to specifically recommend people take the Pearl Harbor VIP tour that last 7 hours. The tour guides are vet's and our's was guided by an injured Iraqi war vet whom I thanked for his service. I always thought that Pearl Harbor was only attacked once. I now know it was attacked twice the second time in 1942 and the whole incident kept secret until 1967.
We arrived back in Los Angeles and very prompty transfered to LAX for our trip home.
All in all a perfect experience thank you Princess.
