Sail Date: Oct 2009

Sailing on this ship was a dream-like experience; one of those dreams in which you are lost, surrounded by crowds, cannot find your friends and loved-ones, or your way home. The ship is so huge with 19 plus decks and 3500 passengers on our sailing that it is a bit overwhelming. The ship's public areas were often so congested and impeded with art work for sale that it was difficult to walk. After a week's saty we were still getting lost. The ship's public and dining areas are so inadequate, that if you did not make a reservation for the open dining by 7:30 AM for the next day, then you would risk long waits or perhaps not being seated until tables opened up, often after 8PM. Often the only option if you were hungry and tired was the Buffet on the Lido Deck. The theater is inadequate in size for the passenger load. Even with running the "production shows" three times (8:15, 10:15, and 8:15 the following evening) it was impossible for anyone not arriving 20 minutes early to obtain a seat.

We traveled on the cruise with five couples. This was our fifth cruise (two on Regent, one on Celebrity and one on Oceana), and three of the couples were more experienced cruisers than we were.

There are many positive things about the ship. It is very clean, and the public areas were well-maintained. Service is courteous and quite good except in the dining room, where it is often very slow. We had a lovely large mini-suite. The check-in was the best I have ever seen; and we were able to go to our cabin by noon, and our luggage soon arrived. The Passenger Services Desk was the most helpful we have ever met on a ship. Skywalkers should not be missed.
