We took the Celebrity Mercury on a 4-day cruise from Seattle to British Columbia. It was my first time on Celebrity, although I have been on about a dozen other cruises. For the most part, the food was great (the notable exception was the lobster bisque, which was absolutely terrible). The entertainment was first-rate, including the comedian, juggler, contortionists, ship's song and dance group, and musicians in the lounges. The fitness center was large and well equipped. I took a step-aerobics class, but the instructor wasn't very good at cuing the moves, so it was hard to follow. The ship seemed to have fewer activities than other ships I've been on, but we were never bored.
The first stop was in Nanaimo, a quiet little town that was fine to walk around. There is an extensive trail system, so anyone wanting to jog or power walk can do so without being at the mercy of the ship's treadmills. A local shuttle bus gave free tours of the town.
The second stop was Victoria, a lovely town with much to see and do. We thought that the ship's shore excursions were overpriced, so we just walked around on our own.
The ship seemed to be well-maintained and well-staffed. My only complaint is that our cabin was incredibly noisy. We were on Deck 4, below the kitchen, and heard extremely loud noises well into the night, and starting early in the morning. It sounded like they were moving heavy equipment above us. It was so loud, I couldn't sleep thru it. The folks we were traveling with were on the same floor, but said their cabin was fine. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this cruise, but would warn you to avoid the cabins that are below the kitchen.
