The old adage " you get what you pay for" applies to our 9/26 Western Caribbean trip on Liberty. The ticket price was significantly less than the same on RCCL for the same date ( Take note RCCL- you are pricing yourself out of cruisers). It is my opinion and that of the other 9 in our party, that with the automatic gratuity added into every single slip you sign and automatically added to your bill for the blanket gratuity, the staff has absolutely no incentive to go that extra mile for you with their service. Now I realize that if you want to make a change in that or any item on your bill, you can stand in line in that narrow area for an hour or more to try to get it fixed. We never saw that line without a huge group waiting. The food in the Emiles "cafeteria" would have been better on an airline. Butch, the cruise director and his sidekick Shawn (??) are the two most annoying people EVER encountered. Butch has a love of hearing himself on the microphone and in the hallways and staterooms you cannot get away from that voice-ya? Shawn(SP?) has a laugh that can rival fingernails on a chalkboard.OMG - we thought to set that laugh to our cel phones to ward off telemarketers. The singers and dancers, the live band, the comic, the hypnotist all were great and much enjoyed. If you like waiting for your disappearing waiter 20 minutes to return with your drink order then you were fine.
RCCL- we are sorry that we dissed you for Carnival- Liberty showed us that we made a mistake that won't happen again. Next time, we will save harder and know that on RCCL we truly get what we pay for. No- our party is definitely not against a good party and lots of fun, but we have been accustomed to excellence in service and in our MDR food.
