Sept. 18-28/09 Mother & Daughter (81 and 52 years) 10 day cruise, had done a 7 day cruise in 2004 (Alaska), not long enough!! Hadn't seen Icy Strait Point, Hubbard Glacier, Sitka, or Victoria. 3rd cruise, second-time Alaska, first-time "Celebrity Millennium". Others were, Holland American (Zaandam) and Royal Caribbean, (Explorer of the Seas). Still breath-taking views!! Found nothing really wrong with "Millennium" ship. Was very enjoyable, friendly staff, food great. (don't understand comment about "no food or selection available"?), good grief!!, "tons of food", from eggs, sandwiches, pizza, stir fry, steaks, chicken, fish and so on... Very clean ship. Okay, not "fancy", as for decorations around. Kind of missed the cute animal towels on other ships. Still had the choc's at bed-time. Mum and I, went on this cruise, to enjoy and we certainly did!! We had no excursions booked. Weather was not that great, was beautiful in Vancouver and Victoria, but the other ports it rained a lot. Had one evening when we were told the waves were 36 feet high, they didn't let anyone outside. I will say, "you really feel movement on this ship." Because of the really bad weather or stabilization, wasn't the greatest? I don't think, they told us how really bad it was, the ship was rocking!! Temps were in the 50-60F. Ketchikan - Rained on and off. Lovely place, colourful houses. Found a small store where I could get calling cards. I tried and found the Internet on ship was too pricey and took a long time to connect for e-mailing. So for $15.00 I bought 3 cards for 20 minutes talk time. Even better, could hear my husband's voice. Guess I could of got them back home, but thought, I would be using the Internet. Forgot dog's name, but she would wander around stores, and people put money in her collar. "Bet she was well-fed"!! Juneau - Rain again. Mum saw this Tramway (Mt. Roberts) way up high and wanted to go, I'm going YIKES, but it was fun. For $27.00 each. (no senior rates). Plus they had stores and trails up there. Also could see our ship and the view was amazing! We each bought bright red warm Alaska jackets with hood in Juneau. Cheap. They came in handy and warm!! We did look a pair!! I was always amazed, with over 2,000 people, and you would keep bumping into the same people! Skagway - Rain and misty. Seeing the snow-capped mountains again, was a welcome sight. We were docked in a different location than our cruise before but they did have shuttles and buses to take to town. (More money). Forget the "Train-ride", we did a bus tour, tourguide waiting in town for 3 hours. $40.00 each. About 30 people. Was able to stop and take great pictures, hear the adventure stories, and see fantastic views! Also went across a scary bridge that had been built 3 times, if you saw my pictures, the bridge would blow you away. Went across B.C border and back and coming back was a "Welcome to Alaska" sign. Was neat to get a picture of us both in front of the sign in our bright new red jackets!! Came back to cabin, found lovely red roses in our cabin, from my husband. Was early, they were to be sent on Friday (birthday). But was nice, as we could enjoy them for the rest of the week. Icy Strait Point - Rain, on and off. A very small place. Not much there, except for the Zip-rider, if you really wanted a thrill, for $100 each. Heard people were upset, as it was cancelled due to high winds. Got good pictures of the whole ship, as we were tendered. Found out after that if you continued and paid another $10.00 each, the bus would go to another town, you might see Eagles. Or you could walk the trails. Prices for souvenirs were very expensive here. Hubbard Glacier - Another beautiful place, with colours!! All shades of Blue's. We even had a rainbow!! Nothing gets better than that!! The only time, when you saw lots of people outside. Ship got very close to the Glacier's. Sitka - Another tendered. Friday, my birthday! Was kind of weird being away from family on my birthday. But Mum, had arranged at dinnertime to have the servers sing away and they made a lovely fudge cake. Love seeing Whales, so, as we were going into Sitka they advertised a Whale Tour, didn't even blink a eye, wanted to do it. For a hour, pretty pricey. Don't think Mum was all that thrilled when she saw the boat held 6 people. She stayed inside, I was outside, hanging on for dear life. But, WOW, we did see whales!! Humpbacks. Water was rough. Would love to get in touch with the tourist guy in Sitka that was on the Whale Tour with us, was my birthday, and with his camera, I'm sure he got better pictures of the Whales then I did. Would love to have some copies of them. (amyotte@personainternet.com) Victoria - I could live there. Weather was great!! Flowers galore. "The Empress Hotel", would of loved to have gone in, for cakes and tea. Vancouver- Darn, cruise is all done. But we had a wonderful time!! Embarkment: Was easy, didn't take very long. Handed Champagne as we entered the ship. Only problem we had, as we landed in Vancouver was waiting for the bus to take us to port. Had that problem before with other airports. Comment: Bar Servers were very pushy, with drinks, did get annoying at times. Wished: Wished the "Captain", would give us more information on speaker as to where we were (certain islands) or wild life around. Cabins: We were "inside cabin" which was kind of small with two single beds. But still had everything we needed. Should have brought a small clock as you have no idea what time it is. I was always getting up too early, or was it the 4 hour time-zone that mixed me up. Elevators were neat as they had one that you could look outside and see the waves. As well as portholes on floors, looking down, which was really cool in the main dinning-room. Servers: Dinnertime, Wilmar & Ghilberto, they were the best. They do long hours and still smile. Would also like to thank "Athar", made up a table for two, for us. We felt like Queens!! Thank you!! Getting off ship, again, was fairly easy, we had to stay in the Theatre but would of like to of wandered around a bit more before leaving, we had a late flight. Flight: 5 hours to Vancouver. Enjoyed watching T.V. to kill time, bought headphones for $3.00. Make sure, you bring sandwiches or something, as the only things for free, were coffee, pop, some cookies, and nib-bites. (Westjet).

Bring a good camera, good batteries and a big memory card. I took over 600 pictures.

Treated Mum for an hour massage on ship, again was pricey, but, she said, was the best ever!! No complains. Enjoyed the Casino. Didn't see much play shows on board. Did go to the movie show, but would of enjoyed it more if they had better selections of movies. Always thought on the cruises the higher levels would give a smoother cruise. Maybe better for not hearing machine noise. We felt the ship move a lot, even on deck 9. Didn't notice this on other ships. All in all we had a fantastic time. Okay Mum... where are we going NEXT YEAR!!! Your daughter and shipmate xo
