Embarkation: We had a very smooth embarkation. We were in an AC suite and VIP boarding is a snap. We arrived at the port at 10:30, sailed thru customs, security and were on the ship eating by 11:30. Anka is the great at doing what she does for her suite passengers. Spoke to some of the people we knew who were not suite passengers and they were on the ship by 12:45 or so. They were very happy with experience.
Room: Our room was fabulous. All I can say is WOW. If you ever get the chance to travel on the Sun in 0265, it is worth the splurge. Orlando is such a great Butler, and caters to your every need. Our room steward was Javier. What a great guy also. We visited an inside room and a balcony room during the cruise and found them quite the right size. The inside is small, but then so is your bill for sailing. Anyway you will love any room you get.
Food: This is so personal hard for me to say. I do not like exotic or fancy food, but always managed to find something to eat. My DH is the exotic, fancy eater of the family and he loved the food. He found the desserts not as good as he had remembered, but I thought they were better than our last cruise. We did eat the the East Meets West one night. Really, okay, but not what I thought was worth the money. Next time will stick to the MDR, they have great food and it is free.
Staff: First I must give a big shout out to the Internet guy. He is wonderful and helped me with a problem I was having with receiving a document. He went out of his way to help me and I soooooooo appreciated that. He also has a great sense of humor. Ametia who set up our M&G was also very nice. She did a great job. I loved the captain and all his staff. Never before has a crew, so gone out of their way to learn your name. Several times during the cruise the staff greeted me by my first name. I thought that made the trip a little more special. You will love your CD, Pedro did a great job of having lots to do. The entertainment was okay, but then again, I am not a really big entertainment buff on ships.
Fellow Passenger: The only complaint I had with not with the ship or the staff, it was with the fellow passengers. In the gym their are signs everywhere that say 30 minutes per aerobics machine. I would get off, to let someone else one and they would end up staying on 60 minutes. I felt that was very inconsiderate.
Disembarkation: SF is really the worst port to get off on. We had never had the displeasure of going there before. They really need to pull it together. The porters are so slow and inefficient. The ship was delayed by 30 minutes, because the porters could not arrange the luggage in a timely manner. We did VIP load off and Anka whisked us right off the ship and to a special place for our luggage. I would have been very unhappy if I was not VIP load off. Anyway again, not the ships nor staff's fault.
All in all, it was a great cruise. Found lots of places to relax and people watch. The ship is small enough so you don't get lots. Small enough so you really get to know the staff. I found it very special that this was her last sailing out of Alaska and savored the journey with her and her staff. One would be lucky to have the privilege to travel on such a fine lady in the future.
