Let me start with a little background. I have only cruised on Carnival, Royal Carribean and a long time ago on Premier but have cruised more than 10 times. I'm a young 58 years old and traveled with my sister who is a very young 71. We drove from Tallahassee and after about four and a half hours of leisurly driving we arived at the port. A lot of people arrived early and the ship had not started boarding. We had a short wait but boarded early because of crown and anchor membership. We were on the ship by 10:45. We were excited about traveling on this large ship because it was our first time on a Voyager Class ship. It was beautiful and I never had the feeling that there were over 5000 people on the ship. Everything was close to our cabin but we only had an aft inside cabin. The cabin was clean and our cabin steward was always handy. His name was Elroy and all we had to do was stick our head out of the cabin and call his name. I don't know when he had time to sleep. The beds were comfortable and the room was cool. I never spent time in the room it was just a place to sleep. I had room service every morning and it was prompt and good. The emergency drill was fast and we didn't have to wear the life jackets. We opted for my time dining but actually only ate in the dining room three times. Once for breakfast and twice for dinner. We ate at both specialty restaurants. After the first dinner in the dining room, I casually mentioned to the waiter in the Wind Jammer that the food was good but it actually took a lot longer to eat (about 2 hours) than we expected. Everyone at our table had noted it so it wasn't just me. The waiter immediately brought over his supervisor who asked questions. He advised us to ask for him when we arrived in the dining room that night. I have not ever received service or food as it was that night. We had a dedicated waiter that did nothing but serve us and we were also provided a bottle of chardonnay. The evening was great. It was lobster night and also one of the formal nights on ship. He did his best to make us feel special and we did. I have to say that that special service more than made up for the lag in my time dining. The food in the Windjammer was good and a lot of the same dishes from the dining room were also there. We ate dinner there a couple of times as well as other meals there at different times. Portofino's was the best meal I've had in any restaurant any where. I travel to Vegas a lot and enjoy the famous chefs but this meal was the best. I had the skewer of Salmon, scallops, shrimp, and lobster. For dessert I had the sampler. The flour less chocolate cake was to die for. Chops was also very good but I prefer seafood to red meat. I ordered my fillet med and it was medium rare to rare but the flavor of the meat was excellent. The mud pie was also very good as everyone mentions. The entertainment was good but I only saw the Broadway show and once upon a time. The ice show was also very good. I spent most of my outside time at the solarium pool and it did get crowded on sea days. The drinks were good and service was also good. I spent quite a bit of time in the casino and won two jackpots which more than paid for my trip and expenses. Many people on the ship were doing back to back eastern and western caribbean itineraries. I wish I had done that also because it was difficult coming back to the real world. I would definitely do this again. There was always so much to do from belly dancing to bingo. Didn't see a lot of kids and many more older people than young.
