A big city port difficult to navigate, hire a ride or be prepared to use GPS.Cabins clean and service to compare with all good reviews. Impressed by the staff of the whole ship to be friendly.
I really didn't like the variability of the dine around dinner stewards but that's the biggest drawback of the dine around option. The food has gone the way of the airlines. That is mass produced and variable in quality. We tried out the optional dining and the staff was more attentive, the atmosphere quieter and the food selection up to par with cruise fare of 10 years ago.
Tried the Lido style serve yourself dining in the Raffles and there were lots of choices but mostly of low class. Probably the worst buffet deserts of any cruise ship that I have sampled. Of course with all the buffet choices one can find something you like in taste even though it is still cafeteria style. At an average of 1+ cruises per year I can say that this was the biggest minus of this ship.
As a walker I appreciate an unencumbered large walking deck. This would have been deck 5 on this ship. But in the PM they block off this path by building out a dine under the stars area for optional dining.
The public areas were mostly as expected but some serious flaws in design. The theater has cramped seats and no way for drinks to be served without passing them hand over hand. Of course for an extra fare (ala the airlines) you can have a seat on the front row where service is normal. The Estacy lounge hases few permanent seats and tables so they resort to straight back stackable chairs when the evening crowds show up.
On our next cruise I intend to face a fare increase just to get back to the better dining experiences of years past. Since like most we shop for low fares overall, this means that we will budget ourselves to afford the optional extra fare dining experiences for the evening meals.
The cabins were acceptable and the beds extra nice for sleeping.
There isn't much new to write about Bermuda (been there done that) but the choice of cruise port docking outside of Hamilton is a serious drawback and we won't be returning ever again to this destination. Also a word of warningt about renting those convenient scooters from Oleanders. 30% of our party had serious safety defects with their scooters (broken brake cables and stuck throttles etc.)in spite of the hidden mandantory service and insurance charges they heap on the rentals.
Next cruises will be on RC Freedom Of the seas and Star Princess
