A few things first:

1) We traveled with my parents who had never been on a cruise before. 2) This was our first time on Jewel, first time on a Radiance-class ship, and first time sailing any itinerary into colder weather 3) It was FANTASTIC

We drove up to Boston from my parents' house on Long Island on Sunday, the day before Jewel set sail, and stopped at Jimmy's in Savin Rock, CT. HIGHLY recommend this place. As my husband can attest, they have one of the best chicken parms around (he's the only one who doesn't eat anything from the sea) and the lobster rolls are insanely wonderful - warm and dripping with butter. No mayo in this little gem! We spent the night at the Hyatt Regency-Cambridge (priceline - $80!). It needs a good refurbish (paint peeling, carpet VERY old), but generally, nice hotel.

Cabin Review

Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D1

We were in a hump cabin, category D1. The balcony was enormous. We had two lounge chairs and two regular chairs with a small end table out there, with plenty of room to walk. The one amazing thing about this particular cabin (aside from the wonderful balcony) was the fact that because we were traveling north for the majority of this cruise, we had sunsets every night. Just gorgeous! We didn't hear any noise from above and the location can't be beat - we were right next to the elevator bank (but never heard a peep from there!). I HIGHLY recommend this cabin!
