As a first time cruise we didn't know what to expect, so it was learning as we went. We were thinking of just doing a short four or five day cruise out of Galveston, but upon recomendation from my travel agent we did Alaska.
The Island Princess is a beautiful ship. Not too big not too small. We arrived early, about 1030 and they were just starting boarding. Other than a run in with a U.S. Immagration offical with an attitude boarding went smooth. Lunch was being served on the Lido, so it was nice to have lunch then stroll the ship.
When we booked we though that anytime dining would be best. But after the second night if there was an early show or after the captain's welcome there was a long wait for a table. The head waiter from the traditional dining room stopped us and asked if we wanted to eat their. He said all we had to do was be back the next evening at 8:00 and go directly to our table. From now on we're doing traditional.
Small bathroom with smaller shower. Overhand from Lido deck effected some views. Wall from room A310 block panorama. Though you could sit on the balcony when raining and not get wet. Maybe 30 feet from the elevators and stairs. Could walk up one flight to buffet and not have to wait on elevators
