Pre-cruise we stayed at the Radisson Resort at the Port, which is a wonderful resort with a luxurious pool area, and excellently staffed Tiki bar. Beyond measure bonus: we arrived just in time to see the Discovery launch from our hotel.
We truly enjoyed our time on the Freedom of the Seas. It is a beautiful ship and it has wonderful service. The food was good, although we noticed the portions grew as the week went on. If you get a chance, go to Johnny Rockets on the ship, you will never get better service, anywhere. The dining room (we had Leonardo's) was very pleasant, and we were seated with great companions for dinner. My Beloved really enjoyed the fruit soups every night, and I usually balanced that by trying the hot soups which were also good. I particularly enjoyed the seafood.
Mostly, we had pizza for lunch. Sorrento's has a different vegetarian pizza every day, and I loved almost all of them (I'm not vegetarian, but I don't eat meat all the time, and it's nice to have options). Of special note is the grilled eggplant, pesto and feta combo I had one day.
Our cabin had a great view, overlooking the helipad at the front of the ship. The only drawback to these cabins is that they ask you to keep your curtains drawn in the evening so they won't distract the bridge crew. I think they should warn you of that when you book these cabins. Aside from that, it was quiet (except for the school tour hanging out in the hallway, but that shouldn't be normal), and had some extra space, I think, because of the shape of the room.
