Boarding the Princess Cruise Lines Golden Princess was very efficient and quick for the number of people who were boarding. In 45 minutes we had checked our bags, cleared security, checked in, and were on-board. In a nod to the H1N1 flap, we each had to fill out a "health questionnaire" declaring ourselves free of communicable disease. Of course no one checked the accuracy of the statement, so it was more for show than anything.
On board we quickly found our staterooms: two side-by-side as requested. The staterooms are fairly well designed, with a large closet and loads of hangers (a plus) a small but serviceable bathroom, and a small but serviceable bed area. We quickly unpacked and went exploring. There is a guest laundry that has a couple of washers and dryers, and four ironing boards (but only two irons). Irons are not allowed in staterooms. People were already ironing clothes, and it appears one would need to iron either very early, very late or when everyone else is ashore if you don't want a long wait. Word to the wise: learn to wear wrinkled clothes and be happy, or pack as many non-wrinkle clothes, and clothes that will hang out, as possible.
There are small refrigerators in every room. Beware that the drinks in them are not complimentary and can actually be quite expensive. We purchased bottle water during a shore excursion and it was much less expensive.
We were in Cabin C-521 and our daughter was in cabin C-525.There was a good size closet with lots of hangers (a plus!) there was a small safe in the cupboard that was easy to use.The shower was quite tiny. No large person would have fit in it.The hair dryer has a 2" by 4" rectangular opening for the air. If you are used to actually styling your hair with a dryer it will prove a challenge.
