The family usually cruises with Carnival, so it wasn't a hard choice to choose the Legend for Alaska. We cruise for the ports, not the ship. On this trip was myself, husband and our two teenagers. We had a full five days to enjoy the area, before the departing to Alaska. Staying near the airport, it was a breeze to take the light rail into the city. Needing a day to rest, we took an Uber to a near by mall to eat and see a movie. We rented a car for two days, visiting Mt. Rainier and Snoqualmie Falls. Highly recommend both!
Embarkation was somewhat quick. We got on the ship around 12:30, the Lido deck as packed. We choose a 4K cabin for the four of us, trying to stay in a budget for a two week vacation. The cabin worked well, very quiet. We requested two times a day service with our cabin steward, but only gave us a turn down service. A couple times I noticed a vibration in the cabin, on the Lido and Dining Room. Food was good. Always had a warm meal in the Dining Room, plenty of options. Lido deck lunch was good; on sea days it was very crowded. Breakfast on the Lido was good, again plenty of options. The omelette station was very good. We had sea day breakfast one morning in the dining room. Service was slow, but food was good.
The shows on Carnival have really gone down hill. We enjoyed the comedy shows, the naturalist on board and the magic show (put on by a dining room employee). The ports were awesome. All three excursions we booked were not with Carnival. Alaska is beautiful! In Skagway, we had a tour up to Yukon; Juneau, we visited Mendenhall Glacier and had lunch in town and Ketchikan we hiked in the rain forest and visited a totem poll park. Rain jackets were a must, despite the almost perfect weather. Layers of clothes worked great. I would definitely do this cruise again!
Pretty city. Walked to Fisherman's Wharf.
Lots of walking. We visited the Space Needle, Museum of Pop Culture, Pike Place, the gum wall and had a couple of good lunches.
