The cruise was our honeymoon. We had both always wanted to take a cruise, but were not sure about which cruise line to choose, what destinations to select, etc. Our son had been on several cruises, all with Norwegian, and so he recommended that we try NCL out.

From the time that I made the initial deposit, to the time we arrived back home, Norwegian provided excellent customer service. We were originally on a trip to the Bahamas, but we were notified that it was changed, and that we would be spending two days in Havana, Cuba. We were both excited at the prospect of visiting a country that had been shut off from the US for such a long time.

Our trip on the Norwegian Sky sailed out of Miami. We arrived the night before, stayed overnight in an hotel, and then arrived at the dock the following morning. Unfortunately, six weeks prior to the trip, I ruptured my patella tendon. However, the staff at the dock ensured that our check-in process was expedited, and we were allowed to board the ship before the rest of the passengers.

Cabin OA

When we arrived in our cabin, the air conditioning did not appear to respond to changes in the thermostat. Our cabin "concierge" came to visit us not long after we got there, and he immediately got the A/C fixed while we were at dinner. The bathroom was a little cramped, especially as I could not bend one of my legs, but the bed was very comfortable, and our window afforded us great views, especially when docking.

Port Reviews

Miami

It was very hot and humid in Miami. My one complaint relates to the emergency evacuation drill. I completely understand that the drill is vital. However, we were made to stand in the humidity for a very long period of time while passengers gradually gathered, many after the 4:30 pm deadline. I do not have a solution for this, but standing outside for that length of time was very uncomfortabl.

Great Stirrup Cay

We were unable to land on the Cay due to rough weather.
