Just a couple of warnings about cruising on Royal Caribbean in general. A) Their policy states that you are allowed to bring two bottles of wine on board when getting on the ship. They can be no larger than 750 ml and only wine. Fine, what they don't tell you is if you pack them in your suitcase and allow RC to transport it onto the ship your suitcases will be confiscated and held by security until after the ship sails. You of course don't know this and so you are frantically trying to find your luggage. When you do find out about RC's policy and get down to deck 1, you have to open your suitcase in front of security and have them inspect your bottle of wine. Needless to say it wasn't worth the hassle. B) Our cruise took us up the east coast to Canada and involved a time change ahead one hour. We were concerned that our electronic devices wouldn't update so we called and requested a wake up call for 6:45 am the next morning for our shore excursion. RC didn't change their own clocks and woke us up at 7:45 am instead so we missed our excursion. Do yourselves a favor and pack a travel alarm clock! I wish we had known about both of the above before we sailed. C) My husband is blind and navigating the corridors on the ship were a daily obstacle course. We realize that the rooms need to be cleaned but having carts, vacuums, bags of laundry, trays of dishes, cords, etc everyday all day to try and walk around was exhausting. It seems like RC could figure out a better system than they currently have.

In general The Grandeur of the Seas is an older ship and smaller than the new ships in RC's fleet, (2500 people virsus 6000), we liked the smaller size of the boat, but found it dated in decor. We have sailed on Majesty of the Seas as well, and while the same size, Majesty seemed less dated. We also found the service people on Grandeur to be far less helpful than on Majesty. If we had an issue and requested help, on Grandeur we walked away with no satisfaction. On Majesty, if the person we were asking wasn't the correct source, they would get on the phone and find the correct source for us instead of telling us that they can't help. The one bright spot in customer service was the "Washy Washy Girl", her job was to stand outside the buffet restaurant in the morning with hand sanitizer. She greeted everyone with washy washy, and was so sweet and engaged the people. The food in general seems to have gone down in quality and selection from other cruises. I literally had the worst fine dining experience at Giovanni's Restaurant on the ship that I have had in my entire life. We waited 45 minutes for our entrees and when I received my entree, which was supposed to be osso boco, instead I was served a grey piece of shoe leather, took one bite, and that was it, gross!!!!!! (Osso Boco is meat that is braised all day long in it's own juices, it should be chestnut brown in color and be fork tender). Epic failure! We generally alternate every year for vacation between all inclusive resorts and cruises, this last cruise was bad enough to make us rethink our taking another one ever again.

Cabin Review

Interior Stateroom

Cabin N

It was an interior room, didn't expect much, but we didn't go on the cruise to spend all day in our room so it didn't really matter, it was okay.
