At the end of my last HAL review for CC, I said “we’ll be back only with a great itinerary plus a significant upgrade and discount.” For our 15th Holland America cruise, we got both, cancelling a trip on the same itinerary booked for October in favour of saving thousands by switching to this one at the end of May. Obviously this cruise line is doing lots of discounting, since we’ve just qualified for free laundry and half-priced wine.
That discount, apart from attractive ports between visits with family in Montreal and Boston, was the main reason for and memory of the cruise. We paid just $549US each for a windowed outside cabin. If we’d paid anything close to the normal price we’d have been quite disappointed: get a bargain, though, and you can accept if not forgive the negatives.
What negatives?
