We just completed this cruise from Venice to Barcelona, and wanted to give feedback/critique for the Muse. We found the highs were very high, but the lows were very low for the new Muse, and disembarked feeling very ambivalent about the ship and Silversea. We previously cruised Alaska aboard the Shadow and found that to be a terrific cruise, but we certainly can not say the same thing about this voyage. The Muse itself is a beautiful ship and our suite (1104, Silver Suite) was sensational. We found the public areas to be very disjointed, especially La Dolce Vida as it just seemed to be far too large to serve as a cocktail lounge and it offered no intimacy whatsoever. The Panorama Lounge was the opposite and was a great place to meet with friends for pre-dinner cocktails and later evening drinks.

The cruise began on a negative note for us as on our first excursion, we were placed on a wrong bus and ended up doing an excursion we had zero interest in, and basically wasted most of a day in Ravenna. We had booked the Medieval Borgo tour and ended up on the Magnificent Ravenna one. Although we were credited our monies back for this error, one has to wonder how it could happen in the first place given we presented our tickets to a shore consultant prior to boarding a bus that clearly read the excursion we were supposed to be on and yet this lady still placed us on a wrong bus.

We strongly feel the lows were the Muse's dining venues. We were fortunate to have made dinner reservations well in advance for all the venues, but on this cruise we heard constant complaints from passengers who did not, and those passengers were unable to get into a few venues that they were very much looking forward to. We went to Kaiseki one evening and were extremely disappointed with it. Silversea promotes it as a dining venue promising a "theatrical" flair, but it turned out to be simply a very small venue with 2 chefs preparing food on grills, and the food was simply, "just average". To have a surcharge of $60/person for Kaiseki was a real waste of money, in our opinion, and we also heard the same from other passengers who dined there during the cruise. With the Muse offering 8 dining options, it seems that Silversea are attempting to be "all things to all people", and frankly that fails badly and we found food offerings and quality suffered because of it.
