We did a 10 night cruise. This was our 3rd cruise although our 1st with Carnival. This one was the best!!

We were a group of 11 and we arrived in Sydney early in the morning. We had a connecting bus that took us to the ship. Our luggage was taken at the port and sorted out for us. The next time we saw it was in our rooms later that evening. We only had our hand luggage with us. Since we arrived quite early, we went and had some breakfast in a mall not far away and then walked around the harbour and took the kids to the Opera House. By the time we came back to the ship it was around 12. It was not long after this that we were permitted to start boarding. Embarkation was a breeze although some in our group did have issues but was quickly rectified.

Our cabins were on level 8 and balcony rooms. Ours was 8204 and was on the left side of the ship. We got, what we believe, were the best views. The opera house (and on return), the Pilot (stears the ship through the heads) gets on and off the ship on the left side and we found that interesting to watch (The tug boat driver was very good), arrivals at the islands (especially Noumea you can watch the islanders dance from your balcony), the tender boats seem to be used on the left side also so we watched the early and late people getting on and off and then watched the crew bring the boats back in. Not an huge big deal but we did find it interesting and a small plus.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin 8F

Very clean and tidy. Has everything you could need. Loved having the balcony. Bed was very comfortable.

Some noise from Lido deck but it didn't both us too much. Consider a lower deck if you're a light sleeper. (See Review)

Port Reviews

Lifou

We had perfect weather. We snorkelled off the beach, looked at the markets and went for a walk to the church. It was a really nice day.

Mystery Island

This was our favourite place. It was so beautiful. The sand is lovely, the snorkelling was great, the markets were good and the people were friendly. We walked around the whole island. It was just such a perfect little island paradise.

Mare

It was really lovely. We had a later breakfast and then got on a tender. Took the bus to Yejele Beach. We walked along the beach but found a lot of blue bottles. The kids started to swim but my husband found a blue bottle swimming close so they jumped out and built sand castles instead. There were a lot of people swimming further away from us but everyone's. Our group decided that we would read on the beach and relax before heading back to the markets before going back to the ship. Was also a nice place and I'm sure we would have been fine if we had swum with others further up the beach.

Noumea

Noumea is not my favourite place. Some in our group jumped on a bus and looked around which they said they enjoyed and the rest of us were happy just looking around the market. We also went to a French Patisserie called Les Petits Choux. It is a short walk one street back from the markets and is worth it. Very yummy.

Sydney (Australia)

We have been to Sydney before so we just stayed around the port, had breakfast and went to opera house.
