I don't usually do short cruises. This was my 29th cruise but only my second 3 day. I live in VA and to travel to Fl for a short cruise is just not worth it. The only reason we did this was it was my oldest son's birthday and he's never been on a cruise. His wife has cruised before and it took us both to talk him into it. My granddaughter and her fiancé were also on the cruise so it was a family thing. Even though it rained a good part of the time, we still had a great time. The Liberty is a pretty nice ship and very clean. With all the upgrades that's been done to it, there's pretty much anything available that you would want to do. That said, there were a couple things that surprised me and definitely could be improved upon. Food was only so-so and not really much of a selection in the dining room unless you wanted to pay another $20 for a filet mignon or a couple other "specialty" entrees. Staff in the dining room were great and very attentive. No problem there. The photographers in the dining room and around the ship are a little pushy and need to scale it back a bit. We had to tell one them more than once we didn't want our pictures taken...again. A couple of unpleasant surprises: We did afternoon tea where they had 2 choices of free tea, Lipton and some generic green tea. If you wanted say, English Breakfast tea or Earl Grey, they charge you $1.95 for a tea bag. Never heard of any cruise line doing that. Talk about nickel & dimeing. Like I said, 29th cruise and I have never, ever seen such a line in the buffet! I know it gets crowded on sea days but this was ridiculous. Stretched from one entrance to the other and back again.

There also seems to be an issue with the way Carnival displays your room invoice. We always pay our gratuities in advance, one less thing to deal with on the cruise. However, our Sail & Sign invoice showed we were being charged for this service. So, down to guest services where we stood in line for an hour only to be told that we didn't owe it, that's just the way it shows up. Needles to say I was little ticked off to waste an hour of my time, on a short cruise, just to be told don't worry, be happy. I was not happy. This system needs a change.

One last thing, and this partially my own fault. Don't ever book a cabin on the Lido deck. I thought this would be cool because of the proximity to all the eateries, bars, pool, etc. Big mistake. Since the Atrium is open up to the Lido and there's something going on every night until the wee hours of the morning, needless to say we didn't sleep much.
