This was our 25th cruise on various cruise lines, our 3rd on RCL. We chose this cruise because of its scheduled stops and the activities on board, such as rock climbing, flow rider, etc since our two grandsons accompanied us. We went in a day early staying at the Casablanca Hotel in Old Town, I recommend that hotel to you. Had dinner at La Madra nearby, also would recommend that restaurant.

Our cabin was a Grand Suite, about 300 square feet, with a spacious balcony. Spacious bathroom but only one, not a bath and a half like on Disney ships. Good storage even for 4 people. Our stateroom attendant did a fine job and the Concierge, Sucel, was excellent. Good amenities and value for a suite category, more so than on other ships.

The service in the Sapphire Dining Room was excellent, thank you Artan and Liping. However, the food quality in the Sapphire was at best average. Last night of the cruise we had the fried seafood special. Honestly, I have had fish sticks which were better. Desserts were okay but the menu did not vary much at all. Food quality in the Windjammer buffet was at best average. Not much change day to day in offerings for breakfast or lunch. Even our 9 and 12 year old grandsons complained of the Windjammer food quality and, trust me, they are not too discerning. With 3100 passengers, the Windjammer was aptly named (emphasis on Jammer). They ran out of seating partly because they had a large section closed and worse they ran out of silverware several times during the week.

Cabin Review

Grand Suite

Cabin GS

Cabin was one of the highlights of the cruise. Spacious, comfortable for 4, good bathroom, large balcony. Grand Suite included Concierge services which were excellent (thank you Sucel). Free breakfast from 8 to 11, free snacks and free house brands liquor from 5 to 8. Grand Suites also had reserved seating in the theatre although not really needed since shows were poorly attended. Grand Suite also gave us preferred reservations at the two specialty restaurants and breakfast in one restaurant.

Port Reviews

San Juan

We came in a day early and did our own tour of the two forts in Old Town. A pleasant way to spend 3 or 4 hours.
