My 8 year old son and I have only been on Disney Cruises so we decided to try the Oasis of the Seas. On Disney my son would only stay in the play area for maybe an hour tops. On this ship he did not want to leave the play area. When he first walked in he did not want to stay there because it was just an empty room as where with Disney they have X-Box and plenty of other electronics that he loves. But they have non-stop activities that he loved and it was harder to get him to leave the play area.
The only downside is planning the show schedules and dinner. On Disney it is very organized. If you have an early dinner then you have the show after dinner or if you have a late dinner than you have the show before dinner. I had to schedule my dining time around the show schedules that were available so i had to switch to my time dining. Also, if you have reservations you need to get there 30 minutes prior to the show or you may get bumped. We got to the aqua show 15 minutes early and had to sit in the front / splash zone since there weren't any other seats available and there wasn't anyone checking to see if you had reservations.
We also went by the TV that shows all of our reservations and dining schedules. On day 7 we had a 4:45 pm showing of Frozen in Time. When we got to the show we were told that this showing was changed to Day 3?? We were never notified about this nor was our schedule changed/updated on the TV.
