Cabin: Mid-Ship Balcony

We chose this ship because we had previously had two wonderful experiences on the NCL Getaway and Escape and wanted this particular med. itinerary. Usually, I would travel on a ship older than 5 years, but we knew it had been refurbished and was a "bit different" in design, so we thought it would be cool to try. We travelled with another couple who had an adjacent cabin to us. We had recommended NCL to them based on our previous experiences. First of all, the ship's wavy cabin design ended up being a nuisance. There seemed to be less space than other cabins we'd previously experienced, however, there was a lot of storage. The toilet, shower and sink were all separate from each other and really did not provide adequate privacy. Good size balcony. How odd is it that we paid "extra" for a mid-ship balcony, only to discover that our cabin was directly across from a "crew hallway". The banging of the door as the crew would come and go - sometimes from 6:30 in the morning - was quite annoying. After complaining a few times, they did eventually fix the situation. Well, I guess you live and learn!! Embarkation went off very well!! Better than any other time we have cruised. Our luggage was delivered quite quickly to our room. The dining and service were good in the dining rooms and the buffet had different specialty themed dishes each night of the week...good variety, good service. The couple of shows we saw were pretty good - Priscilla Queen of the Desert was okay - if you like that sort of thing. Burn the floor was amazing and the dancing was outstanding. The two Beatles shows we saw were quite entertaining and we felt the band did a great job performing the Beatles tunes. We were disappointed that NCL had not booked any comedians on this itinerary - when asked why - because there were over 20 different nationalties on board - really??? Ridiculous. Casino was way too smokey as was some of the poolside areas on the ship. We had issues with the cost of some of the shore excursions offered by NCL. We actually were refunded some money (not enough in my opinion) for one of the tours we booked. We would definitely not go on this ship again - one of the main reasons was the smoking...and because of the design of the cabins.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Balcony

Cabin BA

Cabin needed cleaning upon entering. Big issue with separate toilet, shower and sink areas. Not enough privacy. Poor cabin location - across from crew hallway - banging door as they would enter/exit. Great amount of storage. Good sized balcony.

Port Reviews

Rome (Civitavecchia)

We stayed overnight in this port town. It was okay for this purpose only.
