Cabin: Mid-Ship Inside

This was my first cruise, although my partner has been on one cruise before, in the Caribbean. I really enjoyed my first cruise experience.

Embarkation was fine once we had managed to get to the ship, having walked all the way from the train station and then through the port because there was no sign of the alleged shuttle bus. Taking the bus from the station is recommended as it would have been easier to find the shuttle bus!

Inside cabin was perfectly good enough, considering we hardly spent any time there - just sleeping and getting changed. Plenty of space and storage and a decent sized bathroom. Towel animals every night were great fun - thanks Gibbs!

Port Reviews

Rome (Civitavecchia)

Spent 4 days in Rome before the cruise. It's a long way from the port so would not have fancied doing it as part of a cruise stop-off.

Book tickets online in advance for popular attractions such as Vatican or Colosseum.

Barcelona

Absolutely loved the Sagrada Familia! Wonderfully wacky outside and the most beautiful space and light inside. But BOOK AHEAD to go inside! We arrived at 11am and the next available entry time was 6.30pm, if you didn't already have tickets.

Naples

Naples - what a dump! Noisy, dirty, litter everywhere. Wouldn't want to stay there!

We walked to the station and got a train to the ruins at Herculaneum, which was an interesting visit.
