My husband and I (both late 50's) have been loyal to Royal Caribbean for the last few years. Our last 4 cruises were on Allure (3) and Oasis (1). When we got home after the last one (Oasis) we agreed that our next cruise would be more low-key, elegant and relaxing. This is exactly what we got on Equinox. Yes, it is a more "mature" crowd, but boy were they fun loving! We did see a few children and teenagers but they were remarkably well behaved. Teenagers held the elevator door for us several times, and asked if we were enjoying our cruise! Embarkation took about 30 minutes from start to finish. The crew was friendly and seemed happy, which makes a difference in the overall enjoyment of a cruise for us. Our stateroom attendant, Hector, had a great sense of humor but was very serious about keeping our cabin spotless. A request for 3 extra pillows and extra towels was met with a smile. Delivery of the items was within 30 minutes of the request on embarkation day. We had warned him on the first day that we were late sleepers, and it was never a problem. We had late seating in the MDR and dined there 7 out of the 9 nights on board. The menu could use a little help, but we always found something we liked. One night I just had 4 appetizers for dinner and it was great. Our waiter, Proceso, an assistant Antoine were excellent. Celebrity enforces their dress code in the MDR which delighted me. No tank tops on men (gross!!), ripped jeans, shorts, baseball caps etc. The live music on board was wonderful, but the sessions were short. Most of the shows were quite good. One of their own production cast, Ashlie Amber, did a solo show, a tribute to Whitney Houston that was fantastic. The last nights entertainment was a comedian named Ralph Harris, and I saw people holding their sides from laughing so hard. He was great. The cruise director, Rich Spacey, was the most visible CD we've ever had in 25 cruises. He was EVERYWHERE and his high energy and crazy dancing entertained us all. We did not dine in any of the specialty restaurants. We did go to the Oceanview Café a few times and the food was always fresh and tasty. They had a Mexican food lunch buffet one day and it was delicious. Very authentic dishes. By the way, they serve LaVazza coffee in the Oceanview and I think it is better than the $5 café latte's from the coffee place on board. I actually purchased some LaVazza coffee when we got back from our cruise. We had a wonderful time on Equinox and are already planning our next cruise....maybe on Equinox again!

Cabin Review

Concierge Class 2

Cabin C2

This cabin was perfect for us. Port side, a few cabins back from the aft elevators. Plenty of storage and nice balcony with chairs that recline, footstools and a table. Being Concierge class, they delivered an appetizer plate to us the first day that really did not appeal to us (deviled eggs, shrimp etc) so we requested cheese and crackers and from then on, that is what we received. We also recieved fresh flowers, chocolate covered strawberries and some sparkling wine. Very nice.
