We cruised the inside passage on the Star Princess RT from Seattle on 8/30. We found the embarkation process at the new pier 91 to be very efficient. We arrived around 11:30 am and were on the ship by 12:15 pm. We found our cabin, dropped off our carry on luggage and proceeded to eat lunch and tour the ship. By the time we returned to our cabin our luggage was already outside our cabin and our room steward was there to take it in for us. It was a warm, beautiful sunny day in Seattle and we took advantage of the opportunity to enjoy our balcony overlooking the Sound. There was a slight wait for the anytime dining on Sunday evening but the days following there were no lines at all. Always walked up and were seated immediately. Service in the dining room, however, was somewhat slow. We found all employees on the ship to be friendly. They did tend to "sell" additional amenities more than on past trips. A sign of the times! We really enjoyed the naturalist on board. Her name was Kathy and she did a great job. We also enjoyed listening to Libby Riddles while in Juneau. The disembarkation process went smoothly as well but we were about a half hour later than our scheduled time leaving the ship. Not a problem for us since we were staying in Seattle for several more days. Gave us a little longer to savor the memories of shipboard life.We had a balcony cabin, port side on the Caribe deck. Cabin BAL

We had a balcony cabin, port side on the Caribe deck. The cabins on this deck have balcony's that are 9 x 9 with half of the balcony covered. You are situated such that you can look directly down on the cabin below you. Those above can only see half of your balcony. There was plenty of space for our clothes. Not many drawers but a nice size shelf area near the closet. I took some extra hangers but didn't need them. We were midship on a floor with cabins only and everyone around us was very quiet. Port side allowed us to enjoy the sun in the late morning and afternoon the first couple of days into the trip. Either side is fine for viewing sights. You can always go up to the Skywalkers Lounge if you feel you are missing something. Many people on the boards complained about the beds but ours was fine even without the egg crate top. There is a safe in the room and easy to use. Overall a very nice cabin. Loved our room steward also. Very attentive to our needs.
