This was the first proper cruise I had taken. Went with sister to celebrate significant birthday. The attraction was the 3 day stay in St Petersburg and the reasonable price of the trip. Read a number of reviews beforehand as we didn't know what to expect. We took the classic drinks package - which was more than sufficient. Covers all drinks - soft and alcoholic up to $11. Some wine and cocktails and premium spirits came out more expensive and you just pay the extra. All prices are on the menu so you can see at a glance. There are speciality restaurants for which you pay a cover charge but we ate either in the ocean bar cafe or main restaurant and overall the food was superb. Plenty of choice . There were many deals eg. 50% discount on the speciality restaurants as they seemed to struggle to fill them. The feedback we got from fellow guests who did sample them was excellent. I had heard horror stories about embarkation/ disembarkation on celebrity but this has been staggered and I thought it was well run - regular cruisers may disagree. The ship was immaculate and the staff generally very helpful. For St Petersburg we opted for a 3 day local tour (only 16 people) with SPB tours - which was superb- talking to guests who took ships tours the feed back ranged from lukewarm to terrible. As we had an onboard spend we took celebrity tours in Brugge and Rostock. They were okay but bear in mind on a bus of 44 people the pace was slow. For Stockholm, Tallin and Copenhagen we did it ourselves either via the hop on hop off or shuttle buses both operate from the port side and are very easy to find - for the shuttle bus there is now a charge of approx $10 - apparently this used to be free. The other biggie to mention is onboard entertainment. A couple of the acts were fabulous a couple weaker and some down right awful. The ships troupe shows were very hit and miss , all had everybody really confused re any storyline and the last night show looked like something you might put on at high school. The exception was the aerial acrobatics which were superb every time. Overall we really enjoyed the activities on sea days and were never bored but many veteran cruisers we spoke to were unimpressed but both the volume, quality and range of activities. But speak as you find. The silent disco was fantastic and please try it if you never have before. They was a good age range on board and we met some truly wonderful people who we are going to stay in touch with. Everybody was so friendly. Despite the very minor negatives (I know it sounds as if we thought the cruise moderate but we really loved it and bear in mind some of this info is anecdotal but I thought it only fair to include it) this was a fantastic experience, good value for money and we will definitely be cruising again. Thank you to all those who made this trip so memorable.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Veranda 1C

Cabin 1C

The cabin was spacious and comfortable with a lovely balcony. We had tea/coffee making and a good selection of toiletries. Plenty of hangers (good for ladies) umbrellas and bath robes provided. The room was kept spotlessly clean and Manuel looked after us brilliantly. Would recommend a room layout where the sofa is next to the window and the bed further in , it just seemed to flow better than rooms where the furniture is reversed.

Port Reviews

Tallinn

Took the hop on hop off here but really would have been better to use the shuttle bus as the Ho Ho didn't have many stops and Tallin is so very walkable. A lovely city that feels like something out of a fairy tale. Do both the bottom and top of the old town both are worth seeing.

Stockholm

We did the hop on hop off for this one it starts and returns to the port. Very convenient. Fellow travellers used SPB tours and said they were superb.

Copenhagen

This city is beautiful. We didn't bother with either hop on hop off or shuttle buses for this one - it's all walkable. This ship docks about a 10 min walk from the (very) little mermaid. We took the canal trip which was lovely you can ok/ board at Nyhaven which is also lovely for an al fresco lunch.
