I chose this particular cruise because of the itinerary, and the dates worked for my 2 friends. I was so happy to see Guy's Burgers on the Conquest now!! (My favorite!)

Embarkation in Fort Lauderdale was pretty smooth - mainly because I'm a Platinum cruiser with Carnival, and I kept asking different Carnival employees where we should go to avoid the groups all merging into the lines. We caught a taxi from our hotel around 11:15am. There were signs onboard that said staterooms would not be ready until 1:30, which is understandable. So we had our first round of Guy's burgers and fries, then sat out by the aft pool on the Lido Deck (9).

Our room steward, Dave, introduced himself right away that first afternoon. He already had an ice bucket filled for us, which is the one thing I was going to request from him. He and his team were wonderful - kept the towels fresh, filled our ice every day at least twice, even tidied up our room if we left things on the floor (!). Made some cute towel animals for us.

I chose this location for less ship movement. My friend thought she might get seasick (her first cruise), and she was fine. There was a little bit of engine noise each morning, but it didn't bother us at all.

Nice, cold mini fridge in room. Plenty of closet space, a few drawers.

Your typical interior room.

Port Reviews

Grand Turk

We walked to the right where it's rockier to see if the snorkeling was any good. It was a challenge getting in & out of the water there, and I did not see much under the water. So we headed back over to the left of the pier where everyone is. Ended up renting 3 lounge chairs plus a big beach umbrella from a local guy for $15 (after passing some who wanted $20 for 2 chairs). Perfect spot - we went swimming, had a coconut water drink, got our hair braided by a girl who was walking by, and the snorkeling was much better! All you have to do is swim out to the floating rope, which is not far from the beach. I saw a barracuda, an eagle ray, lots of huge parrot fish, and even a school of squid! It was awesome!

Half Moon Cay

** One of my favorite ports!! ** It's got the softest sand and the clearest water! We just walked down almost across from the lunch area, grabbed some beach lounge chairs (they're free to use), and swam for a while. The tender process (to & from the ship) was a bit of a fiasco, but I don't know any better way to get thousands of people transported back and forth. The BBQ lunch was really good this time. I loved the Jamaican Jerk chicken and fried rice. They also had burgers and hot dogs, lots of fruit, and cookies too. Cold drink station with ice, water, lemonade, and tea.

Nassau

We walked through the Straw Market, then caught the #10 bus (local jitney) to Saunders Beach. It's not very far from port - just before you get to Cable Beach, but less crowded. There is a Shell gas station right there at the bus stop, plus a KFC and Pizza Hut if you need anything. We brought a little travel cooler with water bottles, so were all set. There are 3 or 4 little coves where you can swim. The water is warm and crystal-clear blue. We had the place to ourselves! And there is a public restroom building right at the end of the beach area. I would return to this beach any time I'm in Nassau!

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

Took a taxi from our hotel to the cruise port. Easy and very inexpensive. Then spent 2 extra nights after cruise at Ocean Manor Resort on Galt Ocean Blvd. Great location right on beach!! Nice enough hotel, with big pool and tiki bar / restaurant on beach. Would recommend this area.
