Celebrity Infinity Review

Aqua Class not worth the money on the Infinity; rest of the cruise was great.

We took this cruise due to our desire to stay in the US and Canada (chronic medical issues). The itinerary was excellent (San Diego; Santa Barbara; Monterey; Astoria; Seattle; Nanaimo; Victoria; Vancouver). The crew were outstanding -- almost everyone made that "little extra effort" that made our time enjoyable.

We did the open dining option for the first time and really enjoyed it. Our party of 4 was able to sit alone at a table of 4 for every dinner meal (as requested). Diversity of food selections (including vegetarian options) were very good; presentation was exceptional and quality was good. Other meals were mostly in the Ocean Grille buffet, which was also very good, although it seemed to get a bit monotonous by the end of an 11-day cruise. (I missed having any Mexican or Tex-Mex selections the entire cruise). Tip: if you want a kind of jelly other than strawberry or orange marmalade, go to the Trellis dining room for breakfast (blackberry and grape).

Our party's cabins were typical concierge class cabins. One of us paid to have Aqua class and the relaxation room on the Infinity was a huge disappointment -- dark and damp and dank -- not at all like the photo on the Celebrity site. I would not bother again. Beds were comfy but awfully narrow if you are used to a king-sized bed. The room on the Ninth deck (9102) had frequent sewage smells, coming from the toilet and from the deck (outside). No other complaints about cabins.

Cabin Review

Concierge Class 2

Cabin C2

Standard Celebrity concierge room. Truly mid-ship location. Minimal traffic past room. Pull-out couch in this room. Most of one wall is a large panel of mirrors.

The cloth shower curtain tended to stick to one's backside during showers.

If you sleep with a CPAP type machine, note that there is no plug-in near the head of the bed -- you will have to step over the extension cord every trip you make to the bathroom.

The TV is in an odd location - you can see it well from the bed, but not very well from the couch (which is near the sliding glass door to the verandah). TV channels were a bit limited and there is a charge for most movies.

We enjoyed the variety of pillows (and we were able to get a body pillow which was very useful -- in fact, w put it behind our back on the couch during the day and that kept us from sitting so far down and back in the couch).

The daily canapes were pathetic. Both us and our travelling companions asked them to be discontinued. (4 toothpick-type appetizers under a large cover).

A little bit of noise from adjoining cabin (someone had a coughing fit a couple of times), but no cruiseship noise.

Ample storage space -- more than in some cabins.

Verandah was nice - typical two chairs and small table.

Port Reviews

San Diego

We took a San Diego Bay boat "cruise" the day ahead of time which took about 1.5 hours. Heavy emphasis on the naval ships docked nearby.

Monterey

Interesting place to walk around. Lots of typical shops for tourists. You have to take the tender in to the port -- no dock.

Seattle

Just walked around and took a cab to see something memorable in Seattle.
