I chose this cruise because of the ship. My husband and I traveled alone and have been on 2 other Carnival ships (Ecstasy and Liberty) and we wanted to see the "newest" ship in their fleet. Our cruise was fully booked so we expected "crowd issues" like long lines at restaurants, bars, and venues. We've been on 7 other cruises (Celebrity, RCI, and NCL) so we feel pretty "seasoned" at this point.
Embarkation: smooth; got to the port at 10:30 and got on the ship at 11:45. We got lunch at Pig and Anchor (very good food; long line but moves quickly).
Important tip: the pool decks get very hot very fast - wear shoes any time you're walking around outside!
Cabin was the same size as a balcony but we had the little patio/porch outside our sliding door, which was really nice. We always get a balcony on our cruise and we thoroughly enjoyed the cabana. You don't get the view as with a balcony, but the space and convenience more than made up for it. It was far more private than it seems; very few people sit out there and only those with access will walk by. The only issue is potential security issues. The sliding door locks requiring a special key card (which they give you) to unlock it from the outside (the sign/sail card doesn't open it). The potential issue is that sometimes it didn't lock despite our best efforts so you never knew when you needed the special key card. If it wasn't locked completely, it could be easily opened. Other than that, it was a great experience. If you can get a Havana cabin, you won't regret it. The private pool area is totally worth it with no crowds at all!!!
This beach is more crowded now than it was 18 mos ago. I hear there's a great secluded beach not far by cab ride ($7)
Nothing to see here; small shops with all the same stuff; over priced loud bar; coolest thing we saw was the Michael Jackson impersonator.
