My DH and I were celebrating our 37th wedding anniversary. We're in the 60s/70s age range. The Celebrity Summit is our favorite ship to sail on. Our time onboard this ship was wonderful. Captain Kate is fabulous and very professional, funny, personable and shows herself frequently around the ship. The staff was very professional, courteous and pleasant as always. Although the ship is older, we like it because it is a smaller ship and more personal and not a floating hotel. The ship is well-maintained and they are constantly sprucing up the ship and public areas as needed. Our room was an aft concierge room. The extra perks were nice but not necessary to enjoy the cruise. We did not care for the canapes they give you each day, so we asked for crackers and cheese instead. The extra room in the cabin and balcony were nice though. We were over the canvas tarps (from deck 6) but we still had a great view of the ocean. When you're sitting down, you don't even see them.

The food on the Summit is usually outstanding. I believe they try new menu items on this ship so there's always something new. The frog legs, turkey dinner, short ribs, lobster and beef wellington were especially good the week we sailed. We ate every night in the dining room, kudos to our server Xiamara. We had special low-salt meals which were always delicious and served hot. Since concierge had an expanded breakfast menu, we decided to order most breakfasts from room service (basically the same items as on the breakfast buffet in the Oceanview Café). Our room service was prompt and the orders were complete. There is outside dining at the back of the Oceanview Café - we ate there whenever possible.

Our only disappointment were the Oceanview Café lunch buffet selections. We did not care for the presentation (food was in pots) and the choices (except for the fish and chips they served one day as a Chef's Special). They did have a great salad bar though. And desserts were always good. We only did the lunch buffet 3 times and the rest of the time we got cheese/hamburgers and French fries at the Poolside Grill. These cheese/hamburgers were really good! They also serve hot dogs here. The lines were always long but moved quickly. I guess a lot of other people preferred the grill because, like us, they would get their cheese/hamburgers and take them to the Oceanview Buffet and eat them there.

Cabin Review

Concierge Class 3

Cabin C3

Cabin was very nice, more roomy than our usual veranda cabin. We love being in the aft section of the ship, very quiet and the rear elevators are handy to use. Our cabin steward took good care of us and our special needs, i.e., extra towels, blankets, distilled water, and an extension cord for my cpap. In concierge they give you nice french terry bathrobes instead of the thin waffled ones we usually get and thicker towels.

Port Reviews

Bayonne (Cape Liberty)

Easy embarcation and disembarcation. Strongly advise getting a porter for disembarcation of you have some luggage, they take you to a shorter line for customs.
