Sail Date: May 2017

My husband and I chose this particular British Isles itinerary on the Caribbean Princess because the dates matched up with our plans for 2-weeks of independent European land travel prior to the cruise on May 13, 2017. We were anxious to see the recent changes that Princess had been touting after the ship's recent shipyard refurbishment earlier in the year.

We loved the comfortable new bed and luxurious linens but many of the items in our Penthouse Suite were broken or inoperable when we arrived; the DVD player did not work and had to be replaced, the TV in the suite bedroom was not operating but was later repaired by an electrician, the shower door nearly fell off the first morning due to a broken hinge but was subsequently repaired by the crew. Interestingly the artwork in the cabin had been updated from the previous elegant gold-framed lithographs to cheap-looking, frameless canvas pictures whose colors did nothing to enhance the look of the room; it would have been nicer to have had fewer pictures and more bare walls.

The highlight of the cruise was the outstanding entertainment provided by the Caribbean Princess singers and dancers. . .they were terrific and provided the best entertainment that we've seen on Princess ships in more than 15-years! While the entertainment was great, the itinerary was good, but the food was unfortunately just average/below average overall in every venue on the ship (and we're not picky eaters). This was our 77th cruise, we had a wonderful time, enjoyed the port calls, and will cruise again but not likely on this particular ship.
