Sail Date: May 2017
Cabin: Interior Stateroom

My wife and I were planning a belated honeymoon to Greece and Italy, and we stumbled upon this 9-night itinerary offered by RCI. We had our first cruise ever in 2016 with RCI, and we were impressed with their fleet and services. The itinerary and price were exactly what we were looking for, so we made our reservation.

Ship: I recall that the Jewel was refurbished in 2015 and set sail again in 2016. It looked and felt great. Given the sailing region and type of cruise (I felt it was a cultural adventure experience), the Jewel felt like the appropriate size. The only other cruise ship I've been on is the Oasis with RCI, and it huge in comparison to the Jewel. But I enjoyed the layout of the ship and the Centrum really did reflect the centre of the ship and the hub of activity for guests to enjoy.

Cabin: Our cabin was fine. You can read below that if we had a choice we would reconsider a different stateroom, further away from the Centrum to avoid the live music sound and vibration that would play into the late evenings.

Interior Stateroom

Cabin M

In terms of size and quality, it's exactly what we asked for in an interior stateroom. It was clean and tidy; however, the sofa back cushion was "bunched up" and I would recommend a replacement. There is an adjoining room door to 4559.

The good news is that the stateroom was conveniently located next to the Centrum and you could easily access the elevators and other services. The bad news is that there is live music each night and if you are an early-to-bed and light sleeper, you may want to consider another location. The music typically played until midnight, and depending on which music was being played you could feel the vibration. I had ear plugs and was tired from the shore excursions, so I didn't mind it after a couple of days and I got used to it.

But that's a fair warning to anybody considering a stateroom located close to the Centrum
