We chose this cruise due to the itinerary, the three stops in the Bahamas were wonderful. The Embarkation process was relatively painless. We did not wait very long in line for security or for our boarding zone to be called, maybe about 10 minutes for the boarding zone. There is ample seating and water is provided while you are waiting for your boarding zone to be called. Before we knew it, we were on the ship. Lunch was being served so we headed back to the Havana Bar (one of my favorite spots during the cruise to eat/have coffee because there is often ample seating and a great view out the back of the ship) and enjoyed some Stir Fry from JiJi's and some Pasta from Cusina Del Capitano, which are open for lunch free of charge. After dropping off our luggage in the cabin, we were off to explore the ship with our first tropical drinks in hand. Right off the bat, we were impressed with the upgrades this ship has recently received. There is a beautiful adults only serenity area forward on the ship with a hot tub and pool with waterfall. This area can be a bit crowded on sea days but it is a very nice place to hang out. On the aft section of the ship is where you find the ropes course, mini golf, basketball, water slides, water park etc. We did try the water slides, ropes course, and mini golf and they are a blast, even for adults! There are many different options for food on this ship, we didn't even eat in the main dining room! We really enjoyed Guys Burgers, and yes they are as good as everyone says! We also enjoyed the tacos and burritos from Blue Iguana Cantina. We did have reservations at the Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse, which is a lovely meal with great service. The buffets were OK, like all cruise ship buffets, hit and miss. For breakfast they have an omlet station in the Havana bar, very nice to have something made to order! We also enjoyed the entertainment on the ship. We saw two shows, witch were both very entertaining. We also saw a couple comedy shows. I would skip the PG comedy shows, the real laughs were had during the "R" rated shows. I would get there early for these however because one time we got there late and it was standing room only, but we still enjoyed the show. We went with an inside cabin on the lido deck. This was perfect for us as it was close to the "action"(food and pools, etc) and a short walk from the pool areas if you needed to hop back to the cabin to get something. The room had a mini fridge which was very nice. The bed was comfortable and there was a decent about of storage space. Didnt mind the inside room at all, since we were on the lido deck, we were just steps away from being outside anyways, and saved a lot of money over a balcony room just accross the hallway. Our room steward was wonderful, very friendly and able to answer any questions we had, either about the room or the ship. Our first stop was at Half Moon Cay. THIS PLACE IS BEAUTIFUL. Hands down the best stop out of the three. Beautiful perfect sand, crystal clear blue water, this is what you expect when you stop in the Bahamas. Absolutely recommend a cruise that stops at this island. Next was Nassau, had been to Atlantis before so we decided to do the free beach this time, was not too impressed with that (beach not as clean as the resort because it is a public beach, there was some trash in the water and on the beach). I would go to Atlantis if I were to do it over. Then we stopped at Freeport and did the Beach Day with open bar excursion. This was a lot of fun, rode on a double decker bus to the beach. The driver was funny and gave us a little but of a tour while on our way. The beach was very nice and the drinks were strong, what can I say, all around a good time. Emma our cruise director was awesome! So full of energy and made sure everyone had a great time! I would not hesitate to sail on the Sunshine again, we had a wonderful time! Carnival really does have the FUN ships! :)
