I chose the cruise because it was available at the time I wanted to take vacation and I had wanted to go to Alaska for a while. The Alaska portion of the trip was fantastic and I highly recommend it, I had beautiful clear skies and temperate weather with very little rain. The NCL staff outside of "Guest Services" was good overall and if not for the terrible service from their Guest Services staff, would have given NCL a good rating. Personally I think everyone at Guest Services on my ship should at minimum be retrained, I only interacted with three individuals directly but the fact that nobody else stepped in points to a broader problem. NCL started by locking my account because they did not open the account correctly and instead of asking me to come down and run my card to correct their error, they locked my account. When I went to talk to their guest services about this problem they acted as if this happens all the time, which is problematic because as a customer the company should never make their problems, my problem. I had laundry service performed on ship as I am certain many do and they lost my shirt, these things happen and wasn't a huge issue at first. The problem arises when the issue is allowed to persist for over 24 hours with little to no communication with me and after several follow ups from me with different staff. Now to be clear NCL offers up to 10x the cost of the service toward the replacement of any lost clothing, this was not an expensive shirt and was only $25, however once again guest services drug their feet and only begrudgingly gave me $25 of ship credit to replace my shirt and it took me about an hour of standing at the desk to accomplish this sisyphean task. This was my first cruise and it seems likely my last cruise on Norwegian, because there is a chance I might have to deal with guest services again and I refuse to have that level of service involved with my vacation.
