The Anthem of the Seas is a great ship over-all, its very state-of-the art, extremely clean. We hit a storm with powerful winds on the last day however the ship was still very stable with minimal rocking.

Be prepared though, this ship holds about 4500 passengers, has 16 floors, and there's only 16 passenger elevators throughout the entire ship. Needless to say, the wait times for an elevator was horrendous. And when one finally comes to your floor, its generally so jam packed that you may or may not be able to even get in. The second smaller issue to be prepared for if you're a non-smoker and cigarette smoke bothers you - the state rooms on the 6th floor mid ship are directly above an outdoor smokers section. There were constantly about a dozen or so smokers out there at any given moment. So a deluxe state room with a balcony which you pay a lot extra for will constantly smell of strong cigarette smoke even when the ship is moving. And if you stay inside the room with the sliding door open, the smell of smoke comes right in.

Now aside from those 2 items mentioned above, everything else was great. The entertainment is excellent. Drew (the entertainment director) is phenomenal. We saw a production of "We Will Rock You" which was well on par (and maybe even a notch above) Broadway quality (we live right outside NYC and attend Broadway shows regularly, so we know first hand what Broadway shows are like). Food is excellent, especially in the specialty restaurants. Some of the specialty restaurants you will need to pay additional for such as Jamie's Italian Restaurant, however they're well worth it! Look to purchase the specialty restaurant discount package on the first day of the cruise which will give you approximately a 40 - 50% discount on those specialty places. Even without going to the specialty restaurants, the restaurants included in the cruise price are still fantastic!

Cabin Review

Deluxe Obstructed Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

We had a deluxe cabin with a balcony. Room was extremely clean, king sized mattress very comfortable. The bathroom is a bit tight though, but that's just the way cruise ships tend to be.

Be prepared if you're a non-smoker and cigarette smoke bothers you - the state rooms on the 6th floor mid ship are directly above a smokers section right down below. There were constantly about a dozen or so smokers out there at any given moment from early morning to late at night. So our deluxe state room with a balcony which we pay a lot extra for constantly smelled of strong smoke. Even if you stay inside the room with the sliding door open, the smell of cigarette smoke comes right inside the cabin even while the ship is moving.

Port Reviews

King's Wharf

From Kings Wharf you can do some souvenir shopping or use public transportation. You can catch a ferry to Hamilton or to St George. High speed ferry is very efficient and fast. Only costs $4 each way.

Bayonne (Cape Liberty)

Bayonne is where we get on and get back off again.
