On April 19th, my mom and I left Ft. Lauderdale for an 18 day Transatlantic voyage on Regal Princess. Though not a "professional" traveler, I adore cruising and have recently cruised on both NCL (I'm a platinum member) and Princess (lowly gold member) There are some major differences between the lines. I have read numerous other reviews on this site and (besides some many reviewers needing a grammar course) I am surprised at the things people complain about.
The balcony cabins on the Regal are small but since my mom (who is a real pistol at 91) needed a handicap accessible cabin, our cabin was much larger to accommodate a wheelchair. The closet space was at a minimum but somehow there was more than enough drawers and hanging space.
Overall, dining was good. The food always came out hot which I appreciated. Many things were bland and while it may have looked appetizing, it had no taste. It also took far too long to get served the different courses. Absolutely love the Crown Grill, but the food in the dining room was good enough that I didn't feel the need to spend the extra money. Also, don't waste your money on Sabatini's. Service was spectacular but spending $29 on Italian food was not at all worth it. Having the bistro on deck 5 was wonderful. I hope that Princess will get rid of the Gelato place and use that valuable area for a far better purpose.
