This is our first time on a Viking ocean cruise after an excellent experience on the Rhine river cruise. We were very impressed with the Viking Star (see cabin review below). The ship is very spacious for the number of passengers and there are many spaces to sit. In fact, there were times when we wondered where all of the people were. The Explorer's Lounge in the front of the ship is a great place to sit when the ship is cruising because you have an 180 degree view. The spa offers steam room, sauna and therapy pool. And it's not really crowded, even on the at sea day.

Food options are excellent with the World Cafe buffet, the sit down Restaurant and two specialty restaurants: Chef's Table and Manfredi's. The Chef's Table is a rotating fixed menu with wine pairings. Be ready to try some unique taste combinations. Ask for William as a waiter. Don't miss Mamson's for breakfast waffles and open faced Norwegian style sandwiches.

We were especially pleased with entertainment. Having a good live band for dancing is a plus on a ship this size. Show's are the level expected.

Cabin Review

Upgraded to Penthouse Veranda. Spacious room with good sized shower and bathroom. Balcony is a plus, but you will only be able to sit and relax when in port (at least in May) since weather at sea is pretty cool.
