Cabin: Family Junior Suite with Balcony

Living close to Bayonne, and having never been on the Anthem before, this was an easy cruise to decide to take. The ship is beautiful, clean and high tech. Walk down the halls to your cabin, and watch the hall lights get brighter automatically. Boarding was a snap. Luggage was in the room by 2pm. We were in a Family Junior Suite, which was spacious and the bath and a half was really great to have. The room and balcony was larger than previous JS on other Royal ships. Having a door-bell when room service brought morning coffee was really nice. Besides the main dining room, we ate in a number of their specialty restaurants, including Wonderland, Chops, Jamie's Italian and Coastal Kitchen. The main dining room was consistent with previous Royal Caribbean ships, nicely presented and tasting good. Specialty restaurants, except for Chops, were new to us so we enjoyed new adventures by eating there. Chops was great as always. Yes, we've seen changes over the past 15 years and 13 cruises, but who hasn't. Restaurant service seemed a bit slower this time, but still better than eating at home. The stateroom attendant we had was exceptional. On day one, we made it known that we liked to have ice in the room, and everyday since, we had am and pm ice, no charge and no extra room service charges either. Towel animals just about everyday, along with "Good Morning...Have a great day" and "Hello...how was your day...what did you do?" Entertainment, such as "The Gift" and "Spectre" were not the norm as on other Royal ships, but still innovative. Board the ship with an open mind! Oh...and don't miss the Bumper Cars! Tons of fun!!!!!

Cabin Review

Family Junior Suite with Balcony

Cabin FJ

Spacious, well laid out. Balcony with recliners was excellent and good size. Having the extra half bath was a real plus. Bathtub was full size and bathroom was exceptionally spacious. Shampoo/conditioning/lotions and shower gels were great as well. Our stateroom attendant was wonderful. Bringing ice twice a day, being so sincere about his job and making sure we were enjoying our time on board. Highly recommended.

Port Reviews

Bayonne (Cape Liberty)

Our car dropped us off, luggage went one way, we went into their new building for a seamless transition on board. Completing the paperwork beforehand, online, saves a ton of time.

St. Maarten

St. Maarten has beautiful beaches, great shopping and a wonderful airport to watch planes land and take-off...up close.

San Juan

The ship docked right in Old San Juan...so walking off the ship gives you the opportunity to walk directly into old San Juan and explore some wonderful history. Take the free trolley that stops in front of the ship, and makes its way around the city. Check out the old Fort, a national park. Stay safe, don't go off the beaten path, and stay with a group.

Labadee

Sandy beach is the Columbus beach, great for kids. Experience has taught us to stay clear of the market place, as the Haitians can be a bit pushy. We had the drink package, but the island bartender said the package wouldn't cover the island "Labadozi" and the ship bartender told us that it should have been included. Miss-communication?
