Despite the mixed reviews for this cruise, our experience on the Liberty of the Seas was a very positive one. The embarkation process was the only challenge with this trip. It certainly required a lot of patience both at the hotel, Moody Gardens Hotel & Resort, and at the Galveston terminal. The ship was beautiful, clean and well maintained throughout our cruise. The cabin was nice maybe a little worn, but the state attendant for our cabin was exceptional. The dining experience was very good in the main dining room and in the Windjammer. Dining waitstaff were more than accommodating, and the menu offered many choices. We chose to eat at Chops Grille on the last evening of the trip; the food was excellent. The entertainment was very good on this ship.

The highlight of our trip was the shore excursions. They were all booked through Royal Caribbean in advance of our cruise. In Roatan, we went to the Mayan Princess Resort and Spa. Beautiful beach with lots of security. In Costa Maya, we took the Jaguar bus tour which included biking, cenote swimming, and a beach break with lunch. The staff were very diligent about making this an adventurous excursion with things to do at the beach for everyone (paddle boarding, boogie boards, etc). In Cozumel, we took the Palanacar reef and star fish snorkeling tour. This was the best excursion we have ever taken on a cruise. The staff were from Playa Mia; they were exceptional. They made such effort to create an experience that guests would not forget. They were fun, very safety conscious, and genuinely cared about the experience of each guest on the excursion. The excursion provided snorkeling equipment that was new and very clean. Manuel, the divemaster, was amazing; he was willing to work with guests of all experience levels. We snorkelled with sea turtles, star fish and beautiful exotic fish. It was a wonderful experience.
