We wanted to go on one of the big ships with all the bells and whistles at least once! We were a large group with our 4 children ranging from 18 to 26 and two of their partners. It was the two girls first cruise, and our families 3rd cruise. We all enjoyed the overall experience, the boat was full and we rarely felt crowed. I could always find a beach chair on deck in the shade. I have to give RCL kudos for crowd control. The ship is lovely with lots to look at and do. If it is showing it's age, we didn't notice and were pleased with the ship.

Dining: Since we had a group of 8 we pre-booked our dinner every night in the dining room. We used my time dining (American Icon Grill) and we were very pleased with the experience. We had the same waiters and table every night, even though we didn't dine at the same time every night. We really appreciated that, as they get to know your habits and preferences. The food was great on some things, ok on others and not as great on a few occasions. The key was that the dining room staff responded quickly to correct any issues. There was only lobster if you paid extra (We are from the maritimes, the one time our son had it, it was small and expensive), however if you have to have it, you can. Some of our group spent a lot of time in Sorrento's pizza parlour and enjoyed it. They also enjoyed the hotdog place on the boardwalk. My husband and I enjoyed Park Cafe in central park for lunch, it was a great place for healthy salads and a sandwich. We dropped by the Cafe Promenade for a "to go" coffee and pastry, many evenings. Now for the Windjammer... it was a buffet. The food was buffet food... it was exactly what you can expect from a buffet. We ate there a few breakfasts, a few lunches and one dinner. It was not terrible but it wasn't the best buffet either. We all visited the ice cream machines on the pool deck at least a few times during our cruise. We did not visit any of the pay extra restaurants. We just didn't feel it was necessary to spend even more to eat some place "special" after paying our cruise fee per person.

Entertainment: I pre-booked all of our shows and then we showed up 15 to 25 minutes early so that we could get good seating. I highly recommend you pre-book or risk being disappointed. The performance of Mamma Mia was great! We all enjoyed it. The ice skating show was also a nice surprise, it exceeded our expectations. The aqua show was ok, the diving was impressive but went on for too long... we were starting to lose interest in it. The Blue Planet show was a hot mess... the music made no sense with the theme or the dancing... we are not rude people so we sat there and watched the whole thing, but it was an unfortunate waste of time. The comedy club was funny but the theatre is way way too small.

Cabin Review

Large Interior Stateroom

Cabin M

This cabin was great for 2 people. It would have been too small for any more than 2 people. It was unnerving to never know what time of day it was (no nature light), however we adjusted to it. We had all 4 cabins in the hallway and it worked very well for us. We did feel a lot of movement because we were so far forward, I would not book this again. I will try to stay in the middle of the ship in the future. We also heard the anchor noise but it didn't bother us. For the most part this was a very quiet cabin.
