My daughter needed a vacation from work and I needed a break as well, so we tacked on a last minute cruise to a family event in Florida. We chose NCL Escape for the ship, mainly because of the waterfront, ropes course, anytime dining and the itinerary.

The boarding process took 2 hours from walking into the terminal, to walking on the ship. We arrived at 10:30. No general boarding was called until about 12:00, so even if we had arrived earlier, we would have had to wait. Just an observation...The boarding area is very drab, and understaffed. We felt that maybe this was a leased space for NCL? No excuse for the understaffing though, on check-in personnel. We started with 4 agents and they trickled in to about 10 agents.

The entry onto the ship is different. Most ships dazzle you with an Atrium entrance. This one lets you in on deck 7, just forward of the atrium. Just smaller and less of a wow factor.

Cabin Review

Balcony Stateroom

Cabin BE

Great Cabin. Very little motion. No vibration. Nice size compared to RCCL Oasis (equal category=smaller size.) We thought that the balcony was a nice size! For children... you would want to make sure that they didn't climb on the table or chairs. They could hop over the railing with those aids. Just saying....

The location right by the elevators and stairs was EXCELLENT! The buffer in the design of the elevator bay and the opening of the hallways makes for no noise ! We would love to book this room again.

About the lifeboats....I would not want to be in a lower cabin because as you will see in my video post later, the life boats are jutting out into your view. Not so at the very forward and aft of the ship, but from the rear hump to the forward hump. We were far enough upward that it wasn't too bad.

There is little space to store your belongings for more than 2 people. We used zippered clothing bags for our categories of shelf clothing and the closet for our hanging clothes. The shelves on one side of the closet I always put up at least 5 per person, 3M hooks on the walls to catch the wet bathing suits, hats, sweaters and lanyards. My daughter used the shelves in the closet and I used the one angled cabinet by the fridge. There is one more very shallow cabinet, but little would fit in there. Huge suitcase fit well under the beds.

Beds were very comfortable! Lights and phone charger outlets but the bed were a huge plus! The phone has a night light, built into it. Counter has 3 plug outlets.

Bring a spare card to place in the card slot for room electricity. Kids will need to know this. No electricity without card. Obviously you can use a room card but...DON'T leave the card in the slot when you leave. The card activates a light outside your cabin which tells your cabin steward that someone is in the room and they will not be able to clean your cabin if that light is on! We accidently left our dummy card in the slot all day and poor cabin steward was held up with her cleaning.

Bath has no standard outlets. Blow dryer is under the desk, already plugged in.
