My husband and I chose this cruise because who wouldn't want to go to Hawaii?! And, with 5 days at sea each way, we were guaranteed lots of rest and relaxation. We got into Vancouver 1 day early, which allowed for some good exploring of the port area and Gastown. Embarkation went fine, although the debarkation was actually perfect, smooth as we have ever seen. This was our first time on Star Princess and we were extremely pleased with the ship, the cruise director Andrew Cadillac (sp?), the entertainment, and the service. As always, we truly enjoyed the Piazza area of the ship, a great meeting location and a great place to watch some decent entertainment, such as a classical trio, a pianist, and the ever popular line dancing, etc.. In the larger theaters, this itinerary had some of the best entertainment ever--a magician, a ventriloquist, a female impressionist, a male singer with oodles of talent, great productions shows! The list goes on! The ship even put on a show the last day for those of us who learned how to hula or play the ukulele. Such fun and a unique thing to do! Princess hired a Hawaiian couple to teach these classes, as well as provide port lectures of each island.

The food and service in the dining room was superb, with no waits for anytime dining. We splurged and did the "Crab Shack" experience and for the $29 cover fee, we got more king crab legs, clams, and mussels than we could devour.

Our balcony cabin was adequate and a lovely haven , kept pristine by our cabin steward. We decided to try the sanctuary this time and really enjoyed the serenity and over-the-top service we received--such luxury. Unfortunately, we also had to make a trip to the ship's doctor due to illness, but we were pleased with the efficiency and care received. Finally, I want to praise Captain Stefano Rivera, who was warm and friendly, engaging daily with his guests. Overall, a great experience in every way, although a bit more sun would have been pleasant.

Vancouver

Vancouver was spectacular, worth coming in a day early ad staying a day after the cruise. We took a private tour by Tours by Locals, which turned out to be a perfect choice as we got to see the Capilano Bridge, Granville Island, Stanley park, Gas town, Chinatown and got dropped off at the airport. I would highly recommend Lois.

Hilo

good way to see the volcanoes, Jaeger museum and Lava tube and keep it at a half day.

Kauai

Long drive to the canyon, but worth the trip. The canyon was beautiful!

Maui

wanted to spend the day at the beach, but the rain kept us from doing much more than shopping the main street of Lahaina. also, this was a tender port and we had to wait in long lines to get back to the ship.

Honolulu

we Took a private tour of the North Shore of Oahu with Tours by Locals. It was well worth the money to have a private vehicle and a knowledgeable and attentive tour guide. We used Kirk and we loved him! The island, away from the city, was just what one pictures Hawaii to be.
