This was our first cruise, so we didn't have anything to really compare it with. That said, I have to say that we had a great time. The Jewel is a nice ship and we had a very comfortable cabin with a lovely balcony (we were on Deck 11 right behind the Bridge).
I was impressed by the easy Check-in process and with how quickly we were all processed through everything.
Once on-board, there was always something to do and we were kept well-informed about the activities that were scheduled for each day. There are two pools on Deck 12 and two small spas. One of the pools is supposed to be Adults only, but we didn't see any signs stating that. Even though it wasn't school holidays (I think), there was loads of kids on the cruise
We LOVED our cabin. Our stewards were lovely and the balcony just made it amazing! There was plenty of storage and hanging space for clothes etc. We discovered a few days in that you can actually put your suitcases, bags etc under the bed!! I thought it was an ensemble but there is actually heaps of room under the bed for storage! The bathroom was fine and the hooks on the back of the door were great for hanging toiletry bags etc. No complaints at all about the cabin.
One piece of advice - outside the bathroom door is a set of drawers. When they are properly closed they can't fly open in rough weather. When you don't quite get them fully closed, they can slide open. On our first night at sea, I went to the bathroom at 4 in the morning. While I was in there, the ship rolled a bit and when I went to open the door it wouldn't open more than an inch. One of the drawers had slid out and stopped the door from opening. I was rescued by my husband!
