We just returned from our Alaska cruise on the Star Princess with our two toddlers ages 23 months and 34 months (almost 2 and almost 3). Before booking the cruise I was hesitant since Princess does not offer babysitting (not that I'd probably use that anyway) and the kids are too young for the youngest aged daycare on the ships. I was concerned about how my husband and I would enjoy any of the evening festivities/shows, etc if we had to be in the room all of the time. We booked anyway and sadly I was right to be hesitant. I would not recommend anyone bother taking a cruise without a nanny. Without someone to watch the kids you'll spend much of your time in the room (thank goodness we had a window!).

Additionally, after booking I was very torn about whether or not to bring our BOB double stroller. Everything I read said not to do it because it's so wide and wouldn't fit through the doors, etc. Well after taking the trip I completely regret not taking it. While it would have been a hassle to lug it aboard, it would have made all of the difference at the ports. We also could have used it to put the kids to sleep in it then hit the decks in the evening - or even have a nice dinner. Our kids were completely over-stimulated during the whole trip and they were so tired by 5:30 that we only made it to one dinner in the dining room (so sad!). and the umbrella strollers we brought were almost completely useless.

So, bottom line for families with toddlers under 3 and/or not potty trained, if you are going to take toddlers I would highly recommend you a) bring a nanny and b) bring your regular stroller whatever that might be. You'll have a bit of inconvenience getting in and out of the room but that's about it.
