Sailed on Celebrity. Will make some comments between both lines. This was our second NCL cruise. We chose this cruise for its itinerary as well as joining friends who are NCL regulars. No problems with embarkation/disembarkation. Swells on the ocean couple nights were pretty high and despite the rocking surprised that I did not have to resort to taking Gravol for nausea. Very good service at the bars and complimentary dining rooms. Friendly staff. Enjoyed three specialty restaurants - Cagney's, Moderno, Ocean Blue which we had as a perk for booking balcony cabin. The best, Ocean Blue. $15 upcharge was so worth it. Food was yum. Service impeccable. The six of us all had two appetizers. Did not get to all the bars. We frequented the Mojito bar and the H20 Spice bar, Waterfront a great concept. Favourite drink was the BBC, fan of creamy stuff. Loved the Moscato on board -Lindemans. Supply ran out on day 6.

Entertainment team led by Silas full of energy and very engaging. Theatre quite small for size of ship, so much so the two main shows/performances were repeated twice for the week to accommodate the number of passengers. Theatre on Celebrity ships larger so there are different performances each night and are higher calibre. Burn the Floor was full of energy albeit too much of the same dance moves. Million Dollar Quartet for me became boring, too much dialogue. Summer of 63 (Frankie Valli etc) was mediocre at best. Thoroughly enjoyed all the live music on board - very diverse. Disc jockeys on board were top notch. Great party atmosphere on Spice Deck (16) at night time under the stars.

Some negative comments on this cruise. Major complaint - my spouse and I found all the public washrooms lacking in terms of cleanliness. They all had a strong smell of urine. On Celebrity ships there was always a fresh scent in the air and a designated attendant especially the one outside the buffet which is heavily used.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Balcony Stateroom

Cabin BA

Good location. Category BD. Lucked out, was allocated mid-ship close to aft elevators. Balcony very small compared to Epic and Celebrity ships. Could use more storage. Was apprehensive about location being one down from the pool and the Garden Cafe buffet. Turned out to be very quiet and well looked after by our steward Joseph who left amazing towel art each day.

Port Reviews

Harvest Caye

Tram available from dock for people with mobility issues. Good concept on private island Poor beach area. Was a very hot day. Was not enough chairs and shade. Being a beach lover, was quite disappointed with the beach, coarse sand, poor footing, murky waters. Many people enjoyed the large pool after the very small one on board. Checked out shops and amenities, had a few drinks returned to ship after a couple hours..

Miami

Flew into Tampa couple days before. Four hour drive to port of Miami. Poured rain all the way. However, glorious weather, sunshine for the entire duration of cruise from when we left port all the way and back.

Costa Maya

Six of us took a van we shared with two others. Cost was $2 each. Took us to Mahahual beach to Big Mama restaurant. Property was beachfront. Fast, friendly service. Awesome beach, beach chairs available, good food. Reasonable prices. Fresh seafood available. Buyer beware. First bucket of beers we were quoted $25 by one server. Next server came along said it was $20 when we ordered the second bucket onwards. Think the first one tried to scam us "tourists" Wonderful day that ended too soon. Return to ship. We had to take two taxis, same cost. Vans do not ply on the return run

Roatan

Our first port of call. Van took six of us to beach on West End at cost of $15 each return.

Did not negotiate. We were excited to be leaving immediately for the beach after day at sea. Took us to Argentine Grill. Great beach, warm and calm. Not crowded. We had use of beach chairs and umbrellas. Specials on Corona, tasty food, real pina colada (unlike the one on ship). Reasonable prices. Awesome day.

Cozumel

Modern new port with good prices on liquor if so inclined. Went to Mr. Sancho. Was not an ideal beach day as the two previous ports of call. Water was a bit rough. However we did spend time chilling with food and drinks in the shade as it was exceedingly hot. On the way back to the ship driver took us tequila tasting thoroughly enjoyed by all.
