We've been loyal to Celebrity for the past six cruises and have sailed on the Equinox twice before. We chose this specific cruise for the New Orleans itinerary, as we liked the idea of a 3 night stay in one port. The embarkation process for this cruise was a fiasco --- several hours standing in non-moving line-ups. Hopefully they'll sort out whatever issues led to that chaos, as this was the first time we've encountered long LONG waits to board the ship. Food in the dining room was often average, sometimes really good. We don't buy the beverage package, but prefer to bring our wine and spirits onboard with us. We're very grateful that Celebrity seems to be one of the only cruise lines that doesn't object to thsi practice. We even replenished our stock at a couple of the ports, with no problem. Overall, the cruise was good to very good, and we'll likely cruise with Celebrity again in the future, but, like other reviewers, we observed a visible decline in quality and service. I'm sure its a result of finding economies wherever possible, but where we once believed Celebrity was distinctly superior to Princess or Royal Caribbean (for example), we thought this cruise felt on par with other cruise lines. I'd actually prefer for Celebrity to keep their pricing slightly higher and maintain quality rather than compete by lowering prices and then not delivering on service.
9157 is a 'hub' cabin, which provides almost 50% more verandah space. You can't really do alot more with the extra space, but its wonderful to be a little removed from the conversations of your neighbours. We would look for this cabin again on a future cruise. Linens are great; room was maintained very well. We notice they no longer make the 'towel pets', and the room service menu was significantly reduced from our last cruise.
